This non-accredited course is ideal for individuals seeking casual work in hospitality, retail, health, or community care sectors, where food handling awareness is essential but nationally recognised training is not required.

Through this course, you will gain practical skills and knowledge in personal hygiene and food safety practices to prevent food contamination and reduce the risk of food-borne illness. By completing this course, you’ll increase your employability and be better prepared to handle food safely in various settings, giving both you and potential employers confidence in your abilities.

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 2 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate does not require renewal

Practical scenarios:

  • Follow hygiene procedures
  • Follow food disposal procedures

Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
